State ignores Puna on Route 130
Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11:32AM Good letter from Wilda Collins of Pahoa about unsafe conditions at several busy intersections on Route 130 in Puna. Frustrated drivers trying to make quick left turns onto the busy highway was the problem she mentioned.
Somehow I doubt Wilda would be happy looking at the April Planning Commission discussion about access to the highway from the new police and fire stations on Route 130.

I've seen state Department of Transportation activity in Puna Makai of late -- lots of vehicle counters and small crews of Honolulu-attired DOT people looking intently at traffic from Pahoa High School to the Keaau bottleneck. But I don't know if it's just for the long-term four-lane project or whether they have immediate improvements on their mind.
