The owner

I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger.  Puna has been my family's home since 1993.

Candidate ads herald blog milestone

You no doubt noticed the banner ads for mayoral candidates Lorraine Inouye and Billy Kenoi atop this page. These are paid political "banner ads" that will link you to the candidates' Web sites when clicked.

Since hunterbishop.com's readership is growing significantly and includes many influential people in the Hawaii Island community, we offered each of the mayoral candidates an opportunity to reach that audience on this blog, kind of like a yard sign, only better. It's also a big step forward toward my goal of making this venture at least marginally profitable.

No favors, promises, guarantees or anything of the sort is granted any advertiser that buys an ad. These two candidates were the first to respond. Others have expressed interest.

Anyone who would like to bring their message to the readers of hunterbishop.com should e-mail me for more information, hunterbishop@hawaii.rr.com, or call 987-5186.

Just for disclosure...

I'd be very curious as to what they paid you for these ads to be placed upon your blog.
