Council thinks plan is 'too good,' too
Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 05:03PM County Council members had much the same reaction to the plasma arc proposal as I did, saying it sounds "too good to be true" in this Hawaii Tribune-Herald article Sunday. Everybody just seems to be waiting for the bad news.
Meanwhile Councilman Dominic Yagong is crowing about ending the $125 million Wheelabrator deal:
"We needed to get off that Wheelabrator road and get on one that would bring us other opportunities," Yagong said.
He's right, of course, but it must be galling to the outgoing mayor who was convinced Wheelabrator was the best alternative.

The problem is not too little place to put waste.
The problem is too much waste to put.
That must be the driving principle for what is referred to as "solid waste policy". Subsequently, that policy will be "resource" policy.
The community must make it our highest priority to be resourceful where we are now wasteful. That empowers the community, which is exactly the opposite of black-box-technologies-from-somewhere-else.
with that being said, doesn't the plasma arc thing sound a lot like the arc reactor from the Ironman movie?
"waste-to-energy was obviously the best solution (i.e. best REALISTIC choice for the environment, cheapest long-term)."
