The 'best-connected journalist' in Puna.
-- Hawaii Island Journal
I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger. Puna has been my family's home since 1993.
Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 08:34AM Don't forget the first of four Puna Community Development Plan open house meetings will be today, 1-4 p.m. at the Keaau Elementary School cafeteria. There will be others in coming weeks throughout the district according to this schedule, including one at the Pahoa High School cafeteria on April 12.

Aloha,
I think the Puna CDP as it was displayed yesterday in Keaau was a good starting point for Puna when a gallon of gasoline was .99cents a gallon.
Today Puna is so far behind in infrastructure (roads, neighborhood- shops; classrooms; health and safety fundamental services for example that it would make sense to -change the open building permit policy.
Aloha
