Brain melts under meeting fatigue

A reader e-mailed me to say last night's meeting at the Community Center wasn't what I said it would be and  I'm very sorry for the confusion. I think I may have post-traumatic meeting syndrome.

But no one should misconstrue my comments on meetings. Too many are far better than too few and I appreciate and commend the efforts of all those who coordinate and attend them because they so often do provide the foundation for building better communities.

I couldn't go to the Pahoa meeting last night because I had a School Community Council meeting (I'm on the Council) in Hilo. But apparently what I thought would be a meeting in Pahoa about the Pahoa Community Health Center's plans was actually about proposals for spending the geothermal fund.

So I sincerely apologize to anyone inconvenienced by my error and I'll endeavor to get better info on these things before reporting them in the future.

Mistakes do happen, so please don't be too hard on yourself. You provide a wonderful community service. Which I'm sure a lot of people do appreciate.

...hey! wait!

"...Community Health Center..."
"...proposals for spending the geothermal fund..."

One and the same?

Some concern has been expressed about the geothermal fund being expended in ways that have nothing to do with the initial purpose -- helping the community deal with the negative impacts of geothermal development.
Surely having a Community Medical Center would do a lot for anybody who has any kind of health problem related to any kind of geothermal development -- from day to day stuff to emergency care.

As one who covered the geothermal wars, I think James has excellemt rationale. If there was another blowout, a nearby health facility would be far better than transporting workers and neighbors all the way to Hilo on the terrible Pahoa-Keaau roadway.
