A homebody goes to Honolulu
Two Honolulu trips in a week are two too many for me and I'm sorry to say my blog output has suffered for it. Thursday I needed a medical exam that Kaiser doesn't do in Hilo. Nothing too bad or unexpected turned up when they knocked me out and put the little flashlight down my throat so it was a good outcome except for a full day blown. I know, I know, a lot people make these Oahu trips much more often than I do but that doesn't make me feel any better about going. Mahalos to all those whose comments save the down days by providing fresh material on the site.
Yesterday I was back on the plane for the monthly meeting of the Hawaii Newspaper Guild's statewide executive committee. Much discussion concerned the upcoming Labor Board hearing in Hilo on 13 charges filed against the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, which was recently featured in the Honolulu Diary section of Honolulu Weekly.
Meanwhile, the Guild is phasing out its hthguild.com Web site in favor a new, better-looking and more informative site titled holomua.org. We will keep the former up for a while with a link to the new one. But change your bookmarks and check out the new site. Holomua, by the way, means moving forward, or progress, an apt term, especially now, for the union's long battle against the Stephens Media Group's efforts to destroy it.
