The 'best-connected journalist' in Puna.
-- Hawaii Island Journal
I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger. Puna has been my family's home since 1993.
Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 02:56PM You may have missed this since the Big Island dailies aren't likely to publish a press release that was sent out by the Hawaii Newspaper Guild (my current employer) last week. The gist of it is that the National Labor Relations Board has filed 13 unfair labor practice charges against the Hawaii Tribune-Herald. The NLRB also scheduled a hearing on the charges to begin in Hilo on June 19. For more info check the HNG Web site.
