Albertini threatened over CIA photos

Mahalos to all for your concern and advice on treating the flu. I'm not feeling any better and even a little worse after getting another disturbing press release from Jim Albertini now posted on his blog site, in which he describes a serious threat of violence over his views on taking photos at the CIA lecture on the UH-Hilo campus.
For me it calls to mind the vicious machete attack on Diana S Holmes in her Puna home -- I believe it was 1992 -- while she was running for the County Council as a trans-sexual lesbian gay rights activist. Holmes was certainly different but no one deserves the fate she suffered at the hands of that cowardly thug over any political views, thoughts, beliefs or lifestyles. These are among the lowest levels of scum in our society who express themselves politically with violence and threats of violence. I'm not an attorney but I always thought Holmes' case should have been turned over to the FBI for investigation as a violation of her civil rights, especially since she was a candidate for public office. Her attacker was never caught and probably lives among us today. Maybe this is the same psychotic avenger who called Albertini. Let's hope the police can do something to help this time.

This is totally unacceptable!
I have emailed Jim A. and offered solidarity in this struggle.
As I told Jim in the email, I've got plenty problem with his methods and attitude.
Nevertheless, I cherish his freedom to do what he does.
Also, I offered whatever I could do to make sure he stays safe.
I assume he does not live alone? Does he have trustworthy neighbors?

Re: the year of the attack on Holmes; it was 1988. I'm saddened by the threat Albertini received.

Kim here

No matter how different, colorful, or outspoken a person is, death threats are not acceptable. If the legal system catches this person, he/she shoud be charged to the fullest extent possible.
Brian recieved death threats last year. One, over the phone, forgot *69. Brian called him back....he wasn't very brave when he was caught! I thought the police should have at least been informed....but Brian felt it wasn't needed.
If Albertini is married or involved, or has a family, this affects them as well. No one should have to go through this.

Terrorist threats, violence, and intimidation should not, and will not ever be condoned or tolerated in a free nation. The person that, or should I say scum that left the threat on Jim Albertini’s phone message machine should be dealt with by the full extent of the law.

After reading the transcript of the threat on Jim’s blog I have a couple of questions to ask.

I didn’t see anything in the threat that referred to the UHH-CIA incident.
Albertini made a lot of press over the UHH thing, and it seems to me that he just wants it to continue. Albertini is involved in all kinds of attention getting schemes, any one of them could have initialed the threat from this scum.
Maybe it was the so called piece march in Hilo that generated the threat, heck it could be a number of different incidents.
But at the moment he is getting press from the UHH-CIA thing.

This guy seems to do anything to get press. Now he is going to march a bunch of his followers down to the police station to see the “Chief of Police” to make a report. To me it seems that a simple phone call to the police would do the job. They send out a policeman and take a report get the evidence and then go after the scumbag. Wonder if Jim is going to call the press before he goes to see “the Chief”

I hope that the police investigate all possibilities of where this threat may have come from.
