The owner

I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger. Puna has been my family's home since 1993.

Awwwrright. Aaron Stene's back in the comments today and in a good mood thanks to Rex's funny stuff. Stene of Kona Blog fame and a regular contributor here couldn't leave comments for several weeks apparently due to errant spam blockers at Squarespace. Welcome back. Anyone else having trouble? Let me know.

Also, a reader dubbed "Laurie" sent some provocative comments yesterday that I haven't published at the author's suggestion (it wasn't quite clear). I don't feel much obligation not to publish comments from anonymous posters if they raise issues of interest, but I'll honor the request for now because I'd like get a better understanding of the author's intent. "Laurie" expressed some actual thoughts once the invectives died down, but left nowhere for me to respond.

Now Hunter be honest. I said your feeling was pathetic not you. I enjoy you site. I just don't always agree with your opinions or feelings. I 'm sure you could make the same statement.
