The 'best-connected journalist' in Puna.

The owner

I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger.  Puna has been my family's home since 1993.

Kona Blog

Kona blogger Aaron Stene has a nicely revamped site covering Kona issues, Kona Blog, which is well worth viewing. Of particular note is a link to a current and comprehensive Building Industry Magazine article on Big Island development, which I recommend, though I noted there's not one mention of Puna in the entire piece. A tip of the hat to Aaron for the referral.

You'll also see I've included Kona Blog in the Links in the right column on this page now that I've figured out that aspect of Squarespace. But as you can also see I'm now having issues with Google Adsense, with which I'm trying to raise a few cents on this site. The fun never ends. But with Squarespace's excellent support team, I'm hoping to have that problem resolved soon. Stay tuned.

Mahalo Hunter for plugging my blog :). In regards to
the Buiding Industry article, I guess they figured there was not significant construction activity to warrant driving to Puna to check it out.
