The 'best-connected journalist' in Puna.
-- Hawaii Island Journal

The owner

I was a reporter for close to 17 years at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald until October 2005, when I joined the growing ranks of union leaders now formerly employed by the newspaper. (For more about what's happening at the Tribune-Herald, check out the Hawaii Newspaper Guild web site.) Since then I've been the Hilo unit representative for the Guild, a freelance writer, photographer, and blogger.  Puna has been my family's home since 1993.

Intentional or not: You decide

Take a look at this video of Virginia Sen. George Allen's people seriously manhandling somebody trying to ask a question they didn't like, not necessarily for the brouhaha, but for the onscreen title of the video provided by NBC29: "Stomping for Votes." It appears briefly toward the end of the piece. Somebody at that station either has a wickedly good sense of humor or is hilariously inept.

Hunter, I took a look at the video and that is not what happened at the fundraiser for Kona Hospital. I know words were exchanged and someone did offer to walk Binder out but I did not see any hand or hands grabbing him. Nobody grabbed Binder nobody shoved Binder but a lot of upset eyes were glaring at him.
